This Privacy Policy explains what information Nawaxt may receive when you visit the website, create an account, post a comment, contact the editorial team, or submit work, and how that information is used, stored, and protected. By using the Nawaxt website, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.
Scope of this policy
This policy applies to visitors, registered users, writers, translators, artists, podcast and video guests, contributors, and anyone else who uses Nawaxt’s services or communicates with us.
It covers only information processed by Nawaxt. External websites and services reached through links or embedded content have their own policies and responsibilities.
Technical visitor information
When you visit the website, limited technical information may be recorded in server logs, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, browser language, referring page, date and time of access, pages viewed, and technical errors.
We use this information to deliver the website correctly, maintain security, identify attacks or misuse, troubleshoot problems, prevent spam, and produce general traffic statistics. Nawaxt does not use technical logs to identify visitors when identification is unnecessary.
Accounts and password recovery
If account registration is enabled, we may store information such as your name, username, email address, encrypted password, profile image, biographical details, and records needed to administer the account.
Authorized site administrators may access this information to manage accounts, provide support, and maintain security. If you request a password reset, your IP address may be included in the reset process for security purposes.
You may review or edit the personal information in your profile. Certain technical identifiers may remain unchanged where necessary to preserve records, maintain security, or meet legal obligations.
Comments and Gravatar
If comments are enabled, we collect the information entered in the comment form, such as your chosen name, email address, optional website address, the comment itself, IP address, and browser information. We use it to display and moderate comments, support discussion, prevent spam, and investigate misuse.
Approved comments and the name you choose are public. Your email address is not displayed publicly with the comment.
If Gravatar is enabled, an encrypted form of your email address may be sent to that service to determine whether you have a profile image. After a comment is approved, the profile image may appear beside it. More information is available in Automattic’s Privacy Policy.
Comments may also be checked by an automated spam-detection service.
Contact, collaboration, and submissions
When you contact Nawaxt through a form, email, or another communication channel, we may receive your name, email address, optional phone number, message subject, correspondence, and attached files.
If you submit an article, translation, image, audio file, video, book, or other work, we retain the information needed to evaluate the submission, identify the creator, communicate with you, document permissions, edit and publish the work, maintain an archive, and address possible claims.
Please do not send sensitive personal information or confidential information about other people unless it is necessary for the request or submission. The sender is responsible for having permission to provide personal information, images, recordings, or works belonging to others.
Uploaded media
Images and other media may contain metadata, such as the device name, capture date, or geographic location. Before uploading an image for public use, remove EXIF GPS data and other unnecessary metadata because visitors may be able to download the file and extract that information.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file stored by a browser to remember certain settings and support website functions. Nawaxt may use essential cookies for login, security, display preferences, checking whether a browser accepts cookies, and managing comments.
If you choose to save your name and email when commenting, those details may remain in your browser for up to one year. A temporary cookie used to test cookie acceptance is removed when the browser closes. Login cookies generally last for two days, the “Remember Me” option for two weeks, and display-preference cookies for up to one year. Logging out removes login cookies.
External services and embedded content may set their own cookies. Those cookies are controlled through your browser settings and the relevant provider’s policy.
Embedded content and external links
Nawaxt articles may include embedded video, audio, images, maps, social media posts, or other content from external websites. Interacting with embedded content may operate as if you had visited the provider’s website directly.
Those providers may receive technical information, set cookies, or monitor your interaction, particularly if you are logged into an account with that provider. Nawaxt does not control how those services process information.
How we use information
We use information only as reasonably necessary to:
- provide, maintain, and improve the website and its services;
- create and administer user accounts;
- respond to messages, requests, and collaboration proposals;
- evaluate, edit, publish, and archive submitted work;
- manage comments and communicate with users;
- maintain security and prevent fraud, attacks, and spam;
- enforce agreements, permissions, and legal obligations;
- produce aggregate or de-identified information about website performance.
Nawaxt does not sell users’ personal information or use it for independent behavioral advertising. If that practice changes, this policy will be updated and any consent required by applicable law will be obtained.
Legal grounds for processing
Depending on the context, information may be processed with your consent, because it is necessary to respond to a request or perform an agreement, to support Nawaxt’s legitimate interests in operating and securing the website, or to comply with a legal obligation.
Where processing depends only on consent, you may withdraw that consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal.
How information is shared
Nawaxt shares information only when necessary with authorized administrators and collaborators or with service providers that support hosting, email delivery, backups, website security, spam prevention, and embedded content.
Information may also be disclosed in response to a valid legal requirement or order from a competent authority, to defend the rights of Nawaxt or others, to investigate misuse, or to prevent serious harm.
Service providers may access information only to the extent required for their function. Their independent processing is governed by their contracts and privacy policies.
International processing and storage
Because the internet and the technical services supporting Nawaxt may operate across borders, information may be processed or stored in a country other than your country of residence. Where this occurs, we seek to use reputable providers and reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information involved.
How long information is retained
We retain information only for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, website security, editorial archives, dispute resolution, or legal obligations.
Comments and related metadata may be retained to preserve discussion, recognize later comments, and prevent spam. Account information is retained while the account remains active or while it is reasonably needed for administrative or security purposes. Correspondence and submissions may be retained through the editorial review and for a reasonable period needed to document permissions or respond to possible claims.
Backup copies may remain for a limited period after information is deleted and are then removed through the normal backup cycle.
Information security
Nawaxt uses reasonable technical and organizational measures, including access restrictions, software updates, backups, and security controls, to protect information. However, no internet-based service can guarantee complete protection from error, attack, loss, or unauthorized access.
Users are responsible for keeping their passwords confidential and protecting their accounts. Suspected unauthorized access should be reported promptly.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to:
- learn whether and how your personal information is processed;
- receive a copy of information you have provided to Nawaxt;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- delete information that is no longer required or restrict its processing;
- object to certain forms of processing;
- withdraw consent previously given.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Certain records may be retained where required for legal obligations, security, archival integrity, the defense of rights, or the protection of other people.
Children’s information
Nawaxt’s services are not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child’s information was submitted without valid permission from a parent or legal guardian, we will review and remove it where reasonably possible.
